Calcei was the term used to designate the closed shoes, and its military use was generalized from the end of the II century A.D. They were made with many parts, using a last to give the correct shape. Our calcei are made in 1,5 mm. leather, with reinforcements in the heel and the laces are part of the same shoe. They are based in the finds from Dura Europos in Syria.
