These highclass Roman sandals are based on finds from Castleford (UK) and Valkenburg (NL). The Caliga was the footwear for the marching Roman soldier.
These shoes are very well from vegetabil-tanned leather. The soles have 7 mm long hobnails from steel.
All veg-tanned leather shoes should be oiled or waxed before use and on occasion from outside to keep them flexible and supple.
